This week Ku-ring-gai High School celebrated NAIDOC Week. NAIDOC Week celebrations are held around the country each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
At lunchtime on Tuesday, a smoking ceremony was held at the front of our school, an ancient custom among Aboriginal Australians that involves smouldering various native plants to produce smoke. This smoke assists in cleansing the area and the people of bad spirits and promotes the protection and wellbeing of visitors.
